DRIFT SHIFTER Main event.
After the practise event last week it was GAME DAY for the drivers.
If you missed out on the practise story we did, just click on these words and enjoy a shot of Jean Pierre in his S2000 during the practise session.
The event was kicked off with a driver introduction that gave everyone in the public a view into each drivers mind and how they ended up in this field today.
After the intro’s the drivers got a chance to do 2 practise runs.
The first round of elimination began with the entire field taking a turn at the track. Only the top 12 scoring people will get to pass through to the next round of eliminations.
Once everybody got to run their passes, the judges came together with Gabi and counted the points to see who made it into the round of 12.
Here the event started to take shape. With a few people running into some bad luck with technical difficulties.
Even the mighty HULK encountered mechanical issues with his differential and Ali Lechi had to bow out of competition. He was killing it on the course…
After another meeting with the judges Gabi had the list with the 6 drivers that went trough. This was the creme de la creme. Each driver had amazing runs that gave the present crowd a taste of drifting car control technique by the drivers of an unseen yet on the island level.
Due to many oil downs and the needed downtime to handle / repair / rebuild the obstacles or the track, the event was running long. So the round of the final 3 was not ran. A Winner was chosen from the totals of the points during the round of 6.
John Anthony was given the list, and he read out loud the results.With 7000 points, Cesar “EL CHE” takes the win for this event.2nd Place goes to Raemier (RAM DAM) with 5800 points.
A few special mentions;
We must acknowledge the second place winner of this night.
Raemier came out and got better as each round passed.
Another mention is Leandro Fecunda.
He was always following in his big brother Rene’s footsteps. Everybody that saw him drift since young knew that he would be a top level / quality drifter when he got older.
Leandro had the smokiest runs in all of the field. It was difficult to even film or photograph him due to the large amounts of smoke his S15 Silvia powered by an RB25 was making. Congratulations on the podium guys.
We like to thank Gabriel da Camara for investing and putting hard work and effort into this event and more others like it, to support the DRIFT game on the island. It takes a lot to do this, and we appreciate every effort made towards making Drifting awesome again!!
